Matt's “Blog”
You may be wondering why we put the word "blog" in quotes. Well, technically speaking, it may not be fair to call this a blog in its truest form. Rather, this is an online posting of my sermons as preached at Knox each Sunday. My hope is that this will serve as a place for those who feel led, to respond to my message in a free and open forum. So while it may not have the feel of a traditional free form blog, I trust it will offer an opportunity for dialog and community for all who participate.

I don’t know how many of you happen to look up in the night sky this past New Year’s Eve to see the celestial show. As the sun was going down, the planet Venus was glowing brighter than I’ve ever seen it. Look up to the West tonight and you might still see it shining. The Lamb Lies Down on BroadwayIsaiah 11:1-9

I don’t know if many of you follow the success or failure of Broadway productions. Back when Jill and I lived in Connecticut, we would sometimes head into New York City for a day and wait in line at about noon to get half price tickets they offer for Broadway shows playing that very evening. You always had a limited choice for those half price tickets, but we were able to see some great shows,
Missing SignsIsaiah 7:10-17

Maybe you find this infuriating also. You are driving along in your car, trying to find a particular street you’re supposed to turn onto. You come to an intersection and there is no street sign to be seen. You look up, down, right, left, nothing. Do you turn on the road or not? Hard to know when there is no sign to direct you. Some time back I was driving out to visit someone who lived on
A View from the MountaintopIsaiah 2:1-5

Last October, a group from this church went down to visit an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. Since our time was limited, we did not see much of the rest of that city, other than the few miles of highly trafficked and paved roads that took us from the U.S. Mexico border to the Casa de la Esperanza orphanage. On a future trip, maybe we’ll get to see some other areas of Tijuana, perhaps even visit
