Knox Presbyterian Church is governed by a board of elders called the “session”. The Greek word for “elder” in the Bible is presbuteros, from which we get the English word “Presbyter” and hence the word “Presbyterian”. As our denomination’s Book of Order puts it:

Elders are chosen by the people.
