Adult Ministries

“Discipleship is about how we live; not just the decisions we make, not just the things we believe, but a state of being.”

-Rowan Williams, Being Disciples

As adults, we are still growing in our faith. Our ministries for adults aim to provide opportunities for encouraging growth by bringing people in similar life stages together and by building bridges, so that we can learn from others who are in a different season of life. We have two different kinds of small groups: Connection Groups and Covenant Groups. We also plan classes and retreats for more in-depth reflection on a particular topic. Check out this page for updates about future classes, retreats, and group meetings.

Connection Groups

Sign up September 1 through September 29 to join a covenant or connection group for 2019-2020. If you would like more information about these groups visit the table on the patio following the worship service.

Brothers K

The men’s book group will meet October 8, at 7:00 pm at the home of Aaron and Angela Mead at 3145 Brandon Street in Pasadena. To RSVP, please email Tom McGuinness at thmcguinness@earthlink.net.

The Table

A group for college and grad students, and young professionals both married and single without kids. Check out our Instagram (knoxtable) for event information.

People of a Certain Age

A group at Knox for those of the Greatest and Boomer generations who are looking to deepen relationships with others of those generations in our community.

Covenant Groups

Covenant groups are groups of 8 to 10 adults who meet in each others’ homes or at Knox for fellowship, study, prayer, and service. Covenant groups commit to meeting bi-weekly or monthly for at least nine months. Many of the groups are inter-generational. If you are interested in joining a covenant group contact Jarrod Phipps to help coordinate which group might be the best fit for you.

Classes

Women’s Spiritual Disciplines Group

Do your daily rhythm, routines and habits include the activities that support and reflect a God-centered life? Come learn about the spiritual disciplines and begin to live these practices together in community as we grow deeper in our daily walk with God. The women of Knox are invited to a nine-week women’s small group beginning on Monday, September 30. The group will meet at the home of Angela Mead from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Monday evenings, 3145 Brandon St., Pasadena, CA 91107. For more information contact Angela at angela.d.mead@gmail.com.

Animate: Bible

Animate: Bible is a seven-week exploration of the Bible on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm starting September 22 and ending November 3. The Bible can sometimes feel archaic and inaccessible. What do we need to do to uncover and understand the richness of the Bible? This class gives us a jumping off point to dive into the questions about scripture that we may have never had the opportunity or space to explore or ask. The curriculum is designed to reinvigorate and deepen our understanding of the Bible. For more information on dates and topics and to sign up please click here.
