Habitat for Humanity Build Day

Join Habitat for Humanity for a Build Day, July 11. By volunteering, you will gain the ability to improve people’s lives, work alongside future Habitat homeowners, learn different skills, or advocate for affordable housing. You do not need any experience. Bring your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors you already know. All volunteers will need to sign a liability form when they register. Please click here to volunteer.

Here is information regarding the Build Day:

  • They have put a high priority on health protocols and these will be shared when people sign up to volunteer; they have continued to do construction projects during the lockdown and have been very successful in maintaining a safe environment.
  • They will require that people bring their own cloth face covering and sign the liability waiver.
  • There will be signage on-site to reinforce physical distancing.
  • They will provide disposable earplugs and gloves, as well as hard hats, tools, bottled water, and hand sanitizer; hard hats and safety goggles will be sanitized prior to volunteers using them.
  • There will be a porta-potty and handwashing station on site — these will also receive extra cleaning (they have a designated person to do the cleaning.)
  • Another bathroom will be in a house adjacent to the worksite (this is an empty house that Habitat just completed but that has not been occupied yet) and there will be additional cleaning supplies available for that space.
  • The building site is located in Baldwin Park and there is lots of street parking.
  • There will be exterior and interior work on the building site managed by four staff for Habitat; they’ll observe 6 feet of distance between workers.
  • Volunteers who are 16 or 17-years-old are permitted as long as they have a parent there as well; anyone 18 and over is welcome without a parent.
  • Bring your own lunch if you stay all day; there will be chairs in the shade for breaks.
  • There are two shifts on Saturday, July 11:  8-11:30 am and 12-3:30 pm — volunteers can do one or both (there will be volunteers from Pasadena Presbyterian Church and Knox Presbyterian Church.)
