The Russian invasion of Ukraine has important religious dimensions that the popular media do not always note. In this presentation, Rev. Dr. John Burgess, professor of systematic theology at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, will be sharing how Christian beliefs have contributed to the conflict – but are also essential resources for ending it and establishing a just peace. Burgess’s writing on religious and theological aspects of the Russian-Ukraine war has appeared in major media outlets, including Associated Press Religious News, Religious News Service, and The Christian Century. He is the author of Holy Rus’: The Rebirth of Orthodoxy in the New Russia (Yale University Press, 2017). Please join us on Wednesday, January 25th, at 6 pm in the NSH Great Room as we learn about this important issue. Please sign up for the event here.
